Language of Instruction

English

Beginning of the Program

September (Core Courses)
February (Bridge Courses)

Calendar

The academic calendar of the master program is divided in semesters(15 weeks each) and it follows the exact academic calendar of all the degrees offered by the ETSETB. Check here for the time schedule of the Core Courses.

Tutoring

The tutor assigned to each student will make the necessary recommendations in the process of designing the curriculum.

Structure of the Program

The whole program consists of a total of 120 ECTS credits distributed in four semesters of 30 credits each (three semesters of courses followed by a thesis project). Bridge courses start in February.

The program might be completed in three semesters following 90 ECTS credits (two semesters of courses and one semester for the Master thesis) by students fulfilling the admission requirements, that is, with the previous knowledge provided by the bridge courses. These students may start the program in September.

Students lacking at most one of the requirements may enter the program and follow the corresponding bridge course and most of the core subjects starting in September. This must be agreed with the program coordinator.

The following diagram summarizes the structure of the Master program:

Bridge entrance

The bridge entrance is intended for students having a bachelor degree in related areas that need to acquire the background to follow the core semester.

Core entrance

The core entrance is intended for students having four years of Telecommunication Engineering studies that fulfil the admission requirements. The Core semester includes all compulsory courses of the master program.

Specialization

The Master program features three specialities: Communication Networks, Communications and Signal Processing and Electronics Systems, each of them offering optional courses of 5 ECTS credits each one, with the possible addition of other courses from other areas of study.

Students are requested to take at least 4 courses of one speciality; the remaining 2 courses can be chosen from the same area, from another area in the program, or some courses specifically developed for the master, among the optional courses offered in the degree of Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering at the ETSETB, or among the various courses offered by the different departments of the ETSETB. It is also possible to perform an industry internship valued 5 ECTS (around 150 hours of work load).

Master Thesis

The Master thesis represents the full workload of a semester. The Master Thesis report has to be written in English. The rest of the procedures will closely follow those required for the evaluation of final projects at ETSETB. At the end of the process, students will defend their thesis in an oral exam after a commission that will evaluate each candidate.
