Study Programs in Spanish Universities

Undergraduate programs

Short-cycle Programs
Short-cycle programs last for 3 years and students who successfully complete the program earn a 3-year Diploma. In some specializations, students who have completed the 3-year program are accepted into the long cycle program after taking a "bridge" course.

Long Cycle Programs
Long cycle programs generally last 5 years, though some last only for 2 years with the prerequisite of completing a specific short-cycle program. Students who have successfully completed a long cycle program are elegible for admission into the doctorate program.

Graduate programs

Doctorate Programs
Doctorate programs provide the educational complement for students to develop research activity and to prepare a doctoral thesis. Departments usually organize these studies. A doctorate program consists of 2 years of courses plus 2-3 years devoted to research and the preparation of the doctoral thesis. Students obtain a doctorate degree.
